use your two feet and your two arms

This early film by the Lumiere Brothers was hand-tinted, giving the dancer’s flowering skirt a bright, Mediterranean tone, as if it were a human-version of a Delaunay painting.

My favorite character on Twin Peaks is Audrey. Like the dancer in the Lumiere Brothers’ film, Audrey’s slow, slumbering, Zen-like dance recalls trends in conceptual art and music more than “the running man,” an annoying dance made popular by MC Hammer around the same time as David Lynch’s television show.
